Dave Holmes Excited to Join ABC 6 as New Sports Director: Bringing Creative Freedom and Culture to Sports Coverage

ABC 6 Welcomes Veteran Sports Anchor Dave Holmes as New Sports Director, Previously with 10TV

Dave Holmes, a former 10TV sports anchor, is excited to begin a new chapter in his career as he joins ABC 6 as its sports director. The announcement was made on Thursday night, with Holmes expressing his excitement about the opportunity. In a social media post, Holmes mentioned that culture and creative freedom were important to him at this stage of his career, and he believed that ABC 6 excelled in both areas.

Holmes is stepping into the role previously held by Clay Hall, who retired from the station in February. Among his responsibilities, Holmes will be leading “The Football Fever,” a pregame and postgame show for Ohio State Football games. His appointment comes after his departure from 10TV back in April, where he had spent nine years as a sports anchor.

Reflecting on his time at 10TV, Holmes shared a heartfelt message in a goodbye segment on social media. Despite initially intending to retire from the station, he acknowledged that life had other plans for him. Holmes began his career in sports broadcasting while studying at Kent State University, where he won the reality show “ESPN Dream Job.” This led to a one-year contract with ESPN, making him the youngest anchor in the history of national television. His impressive career has also earned him 26 regional Emmy awards, highlighting his skills and dedication in the sports broadcasting industry.

In an interview with Columbus Dispatch’s Michael Aronin, Holmes spoke about how excited he was to join ABC 6 and take on new challenges. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had at 10TV and thanked everyone who supported him during his time there.

“I am thrilled to be joining ABC 6 as their sports director,” said Holmes. “I believe this is an exciting opportunity for me to continue growing my career while working with talented people who share my passion for sports.”

Holmes’ departure from 10TV sparked speculation about what was next for him in his career. However, it was only a matter of time before news broke about his new role at ABC 6.

“I am honored to be joining such an amazing team,” said Hall before retiring from ABC 6. “Dave is an incredibly talented broadcaster who will bring so much energy and enthusiasm to our sports coverage.”

As Holmes begins his new chapter at ABC 6, fans can expect more exciting coverage of Ohio State football games through “The Football Fever” pregame and postgame shows.
