Jamal Murray Supports Unity and Inclusion through Unified Basketball Game at North Middle School

Jamal Murray makes unexpected appearance at unified basketball game for Colorado students

On Tuesday, Jamal Murray of the Nuggets surprised North Middle School students with a unified basketball game against Aurora Hills Middle School. Unified sports offer opportunities for students with and without disabilities to participate in school sports.

During the game, Jamal acted as a coach rather than a player, helping raise $5,000 for UCHealth for children with disabilities. One student, Felipe Avalos, showcased his skills on the court with a huge smile on his face while dancing. His brother Johnathan also participated and expressed their enjoyment of playing together.

Jamal praised Felipe’s abilities and emphasized the importance of teamwork and having fun. The focus of the game was not on winning or losing but on enjoying the experience. Aurora Public Schools received a donation of $5,000 from UCHealth to support all unified sports in the district, which Jamal matched to further support the cause.

After participating, Jamal stated that he wanted to inspire kids and show them the importance of giving back. The donation will be used to purchase equipment for all unified sports in the district, benefiting students and continuing the spirit of teamwork and inclusion in school sports.
