Zermatt/Cervinia Out of Alpine World Cup Calendar for 2024/25: A Collaborative Decision to Improve Ski Racing

Downhill races in Zermatt/Cervinia not included in 2024/25 Alpine World Cup calendar draft

After receiving feedback from athletes and engaging in discussions with stakeholders, the FIS, Swiss-Ski, and FISI have collectively decided not to include Zermatt/Cervinia in the Alpine draft calendar for the 2024/25 season. The decision was made after unfavorable weather conditions prevented Alpine World Cup races from taking place in Zermatt/Cervinia during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

The three federations will now focus on exploring ways to host future World Cup races in Zermatt and Cervinia. The Local Organizing Committee, along with Zermatt and Cervinia, will carefully consider these proposals to find constructive solutions for the future.

This choice demonstrates the dedication of all parties to ensuring the success of Alpine World Cup races, taking into account factors such as weather, infrastructure, and athlete well-being. This decision was made with the best interest of everyone involved in mind.
