Highlighting Student Business Innovations: The Columns Creative Showcase at Washington and Lee University

The Connolly Center for Entrepreneurship at Washington and Lee University is hosting its first Creative Showcase on April 4 from 5-8 p.m. This event will take place in the Houston H. Harte Center for Teaching and Learning in Leyburn Library and is open to all for free. The showcase aims to bridge academic theory with entrepreneurial practice, providing a platform for W&L students to showcase their ability to innovate and bring ideas to life.

W&L students have been working in groups to develop their own business concepts and products, which they will present at the Creative Showcase. This collaborative effort allows students to gain real-world experience and navigate the dynamics of innovative practices. Anushka Daunt, assistant professor of business administration, emphasizes the value of this showcase for students by providing them with practical experience in presenting their work professionally, similar to what they would do in a business setting.

The Creative Showcase will feature a wide range of innovations, including new applications for social media usage, cutting-edge medical devices, consumable goods for daily use, and engaging board games. These projects are interdisciplinary in nature, incorporating contributions from various academic departments to showcase the diverse talents of W&L students. Attendees can expect to see a variety of creative pursuits that highlight the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit of the university’s students.

This showcase provides an opportunity for W&L students to connect with their peers and faculty members while learning about different types of businesses and industries. It also encourages creativity and innovation among students as they learn how to bring their ideas into reality.

Overall, the Creative Showcase is an exciting event that highlights the talent and potential of W&L’s entrepreneurial spirit. It is a great opportunity for attendees to witness firsthand how academic theory can be applied in real-world scenarios while also supporting emerging entrepreneurs.
