Southern Nevada Health District Data Breach Affects 300 Clients, SNHD Takes Immediate Action to Ensure Client Safety and Security

Southern Nevada Health District website data breach attributed to ‘Malicious Code’

A recent data breach has affected approximately 300 clients of the Southern Nevada Health District. Officials discovered that a malicious code was present on the Environmental Health Invoice Payment form between March 4 and March 14, which redirected clients to a fraudulent payment form that appeared to be a credit card payment page not affiliated with the district. The code was removed on March 14, and law enforcement was notified of the incident.

The Southern Nevada Health District has taken immediate action to address this breach by hiring cybersecurity experts to secure their website and investigate the incident further. They are working closely with law enforcement to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and protect their clients’ information. Those impacted by the breach will receive a letter from SNHD and will be offered assistance with potential identity theft and resolution services. As of now, there have been no reports of credit misuse resulting from this incident.

The Health District is committed to taking necessary steps to ensure their clients’ safety and security. They are continuing to work with authorities and security advisors to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future. This breach serves as a reminder of how important it is for individuals to stay vigilant and take measures to protect their personal information online.
