Universal Studios in Discussions with Scarlett Johansson for Role in Gareth Edwards’ ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Universal Pictures is currently working on a new reboot of the iconic Jurassic Park franchise, set for release in 2025. The project, helmed by Gareth Edwards, is expected to be a fresh take on the Jurassic era, with no cast members from previous movies expected to return.

Scarlett Johansson, a two-time Oscar nominee and star of Marvel’s Black Widow movies, has been approached to join the film. After her successful run as Black Widow, Johansson is looking to be a part of another major movie franchise.

Jurassic Park has had a storied history at the box office, grossing $1.67 billion globally since its first release in 1993. The franchise has included several movies and spin-offs over the years, including the hugely successful Jurassic World in 2015.

In addition to her work on blockbuster films like Jurassic World and Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson has received critical acclaim for her roles in smaller projects such as Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit, where she earned Oscar nominations.
