Maine’s Climate Observation: Join the Signs of the Seasons Citizen Science Project with Free Workshops

‘Schedule of Citizen Science Trainings for Seasonal Signs’

Maine Sea Grant and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension are hosting a series of workshops next week for individuals interested in joining the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. This statewide initiative aims to identify and record cyclical and seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species, including milkweed, butterflies, and loons. These species play a crucial role in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will take place in Brunswick on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point. Another session will be held in Falmouth on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. For those unable to attend in person, a 3-part webinar series will also be available.

These workshops are free of charge, but registration is mandatory. Interested individuals can visit extension.umaine
