From High School Pitcher to Major League MVP: Freddie Freeman’s Generous Donation Brings the Freddie Freeman Clubhouse to El Modena High School

Freddie Freeman’s Clubhouse Unveiled at El Modena High School after Generous $500k Donation from Star Player

The Freddie Freeman Clubhouse at El Modena High School in Orange, California is a shining example of the school’s commitment to its baseball program and its star alumnus. The clubhouse, which spans 1,440 square feet and features amenities such as a locker room, team meeting space with monitors, a coaches’ office, and expanded batting cages, was made possible in part by a generous $500,000 donation from Freeman himself.

Freeman, the 2020 MVP and current Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman, attended El Modena High School where he excelled both at the plate and on the mound. During his time at El Modena, he played varsity baseball for two seasons and achieved impressive stats including a .417 batting average with five home runs and 10 stolen bases while also boasting a 6-1 record on the mound with a 1.27 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched. His accomplishments were recognized when he was named the Orange County Register’s Player of the Year in 2007.

Following his successful professional career with the Atlanta Braves, Freeman has remained committed to giving back to his community and alma mater. His $500,000 donation to El Modena’s baseball program is the largest single private donation in Orange Unified School District history and helped cover the remaining $1.1 million of expenses for the clubhouse project. The entire project cost $1.6 million and serves as a symbol of Freeman’s dedication to supporting young athletes at his former high school.

The new Freddie Freeman Clubhouse stands tall as a reminder of Freeman’s achievements on the field and his commitment to giving back to his community. With state-of-the-art facilities and equipment available to players through this clubhouse, El Modena High School is well positioned to continue its success on the diamond in upcoming seasons.
