Brazil’s Andrade and Other Gymnastics Stars Set to Shine at World Challenge Cup in Antalya

Rebeca Andrade to Make Debut at 2024 FIG World Challenge Cup in Antalya, Turkey

Rebeca Andrade, Brazil’s most decorated gymnast, will make her Olympic season debut at the World Challenge Cup in Antalya, Turkey on March 29. The 24-year-old will be competing on the uneven bars, with eyes on her as she is expected to be one of the standout performers in the artistic gymnastics competition.

Andrade has had an impressive career so far, with numerous accomplishments under her belt. She made history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games by winning vault gold and all-around silver. She followed up with a gold in the 2022 World all-around competition, a first World team medal for Brazil, and a five-medal haul at the 2023 Worlds.

Joining Andrade in Antalya will be other gymnastics stars such as Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands, who won balance beam gold at the 2016 Olympics; Melanie de Jesus dos Santos of France, who took bronze on uneven bars at the 2019 World championships; and Kaylia Nemour of Algeria, who won silver on uneven bars at last year’s World championships. Andrade’s Brazilian teammates Flavia Saraiva, Lorrane Oliveira, and Jade Barbosa will also be competing.

In addition to these talented athletes, eight-time Olympian Oksana Chusovitina will also be competing on all four apparatus as she prepares for the Asian Championships. This will be her final opportunity to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games.

On the men’s side of things, Ferhat Arican will compete on parallel bars after winning bronze at last year’s Olympics; Ibrahim Colak from Turkey won still rings gold at last year’s still rings championship; while Adem Asil from Turkey won still rings gold in 2019 and silver in 2018 at this competition.
