Basking in the Shadow: Frost Science Hosts Unique Solar Eclipse Viewing Party in Miami

Join us at Frost Science for a partial solar eclipse viewing celebration

On April 8, 2024, a partial solar eclipse will occur in Miami, Florida. Although the city will not be directly in the path of totality, it will still experience this celestial event. The eclipse will begin at 1:47pm and peak at 3:01pm when 45% of the sun will be obscured.

To celebrate this special occasion, Frost Science is hosting a viewing party starting at noon on April 8. The museum, located on the waterfront, will offer special programming in the planetarium and throughout its galleries focusing on the science and history of eclipses.

Guests can observe the partial solar eclipse from one of six levels of the museum while protecting their eyes with solar viewers. Bring your own pair or use the goggles provided for free with your ticket purchase.

The viewing party will feature activities such as building a lunar base camp, creating a pinhole camera, storytime, interactive eclipse shows, and more. Ticket prices for non-members start at $37.95 for ages 12 and older and $26.95 for kids ages four to eleven, granting full access to the museum and eclipse programming.

During the event, rooftop access at the museum will be limited to active Frost Science members on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness a partial solar eclipse and learn more about this unique astronomical phenomenon!
